Freedom for the few

Our rights need to earn,
But no bra to burn!
What’s liberating,
Without berating?
Just one public kiss,
A moment of bliss.
Walking hand in hand
Throughout the land,
Swimming in the nude,
It’s natural not lewd.
Equal’s just too much;
Politics and such.
Viva le revolution
The gay marriage solution!

Plea for advice

20140111-152257.jpg

Helter-skelter bark o’er limbs entwined
Twisting up, around and down to ground.
Memories of life and death enshrined
In branches, trunk, roots; barely a sound.

Majestic earthbound spirit of tree
Do me the honour, share thy stories.
I make this humble request of thee,
Let me now learn from past glories.

Hold me in thy rugged embrace here
To share wisdom and be enlightened.
Can we commune on life, death and fear,
Nature’s cycles and of peace strengthened?

Of man’s selfishness now and of old;
Magic talismans of power sought;
In keeping Earth’s balance be told,
The twists and turns of battles fought?

In struggles between darkness and light
Is there a part for me in this plight?
How can I help to make it alright?
What’s required to ensure future bright?

Water

20131205-165627.jpg

The metre of this poem is sadly affected by Chablis, Minervois and Amaro
A water rabbit,
A water tiger,
Go to lunch in rain,
To the Point Restaurant,
Albert Park, Melbourne,
By car not by train.
Sit next to a lake,
White truffle offered,
This time too sublime.
Food wine and service
Totally divine.
Overall we had
Thoroughly great time;
Followed by bubbles
In spa bath growing.

Magical moment

20131124-145306.jpg
On the cool side of the house
Set in shaded red brick wall,
Leaded window latched open.
The frame’s edges softened by
Layer on layer of paint.
Antique glass distorts the view,
Hostas nod gently beneath.
Heavenly smells escape as
Freshly baked bread and pastries
Sit cooling upon the sill.

Wednesday

Motivation’s flagging, body’s dragging,
Gravity’s a reminder who’s in charge.
Brain’s lagging, too sluggish, unresponsive,
Interactions a drain on my reserves.
Inertia seems too great to overcome,
Solo downtime is needed to recharge.

Be kind to myself to see the result:
Stimulate life’s force; divert where needed;
Power’s pulsating; synapses arcing;
Extremities tingling; move with lightness.
Humanity – renewable resource.

Even though the world has whirled on around me this week, my energy levels have been at an all time low 😦

Human energy is the greatest renewable resource

Beneath

20130928-143247.jpg
There is nothing wrong with beneath.
Sometimes I prefer to dwell here
Among earthly things to amuse,
Running the risk of being caught
In tangled grip of undergrowth.
Too much to distract and let go,
Impeding my return aloft.
Inner light shines through the darkness,
Showing me the way to rejoin
The path, to soar above again.
