Winter red

It has been an unusually warm August. Cherry, magnolia and jasmine flowers are bursting forth in response. The above bush in Petersham Park, Sydney, Australia appears to be bearing miniature hibiscus blooms. Or could it be a camellia?

More than a tree

Clustered Solomonic columns,
Writhing; frozen in fibrous form.

Weatherworn-grey strips fall away;
Presenting rich Indian red.

Serene sentinel stands, solemn;
Confetti-strewn leaves all around.

Tree, Sydney, Australia.

Nothing in particular

In a bid to make space on my iPad I was merrily deleting pictures when I came across this one. At first sight a leafy space in the local park containing bouganvillea. The contrast of focus from blurred to sharp and the vibrant colours captured my attention. I particularly like the juxtaposition of green, brown, red and mauve.
