A front garden in a neighbouring street serves up pink (and yellow) against lush post rain green. What a colourful Autumn we are having in Sydney!

Easter flower
Birds of Paradise, also known as Crane flowers is one of the most beautiful Exotic Flowers. Birds of Paradise are native to South Africa. Birds of Paradise bloom from September through May.
The flowers of the Birds of Paradise resemble a brightly colored bird in flight and so the name Birds of Paradise.

Easter time in Australia marks the end of the first month of Autumn. Happily we can enjoy these vibrant colours for another couple of months.
Monstera deliciosa
Aka Swiss Cheese plant from my youth spent in chilly England; these were house plants. It was not until I moved to Sydney that I first saw them flower and develop fruit that smelled like pineapple. You can see part of a fruit ripening in the top left of the picture.
According to Wikipedia,
Monstera deliciosa is a species of flowering plant native to tropical rainforests of southern Mexico, south to Panama.

Afternoon heat
Sydney is experiencing unusually warm and humid weather for Autumn. Yesterday was no exception 30+oC and humidity in the high 80s even with cloud cover.
This light yellow ochre painted house is one of my favourites in Leichhardt. I slowly made my way home from Norton Street yesterday afternoon. I was struck by the vibrant and contrasting colours of the magenta flowers against the dark green trees. The hazy appearance of the picture is due to the light coming from the behind the yew.

Jacaranda shade
This old Jacaranda provides shade from the noon sun. It’s feather like leaves gently undulate, caressing the breeze.
Here is a post about the shadows cast by the Jacaranda’s branches in Spring.
