Spring is incomplete without seeing jacarandas. I am happy to report that Brisbane has an abundance of exquisite examples. This one provides shade for a weatherboard Queenslander home.

Jacarandas are one of the most beautiful trees.
Again I wonder what it is like to live down under with the seasons reversed as I have always known them. Spring? It’s October! That sort of thing. I hope someday to experience it myself.
The hardest thing to get one’s head around is that we celebrate Christmas in summer at the hottest time of the year. We persist with northern hemisphere traditions but with much lighter, cooler food and a swim!
Agreed, the bizarrest experience I have had is eating in an outdoors restaurant in Port Douglas to the sound of Christmas carols. It was a particularly hot and stick day, we should not have left the pool.

Glorious blossom! There are a couple of noteworthy jacaranda festivals around this time of year. Such a shame they are not native Australian trees.
I have one just outside my house. Since im below roaf level, their blooms cascade over my into my garden and dots the green. Love it so much. Spring at its best. Natural blessings for sure.
