Time for change
Sunday serenity disrupted:
“Zee-earning” dirt bikes,
Mowers rattle ‘n’ roar,
Whipper snippers “Buzz-err-err-zeeping”,
Avian cacophony; “chit chat,” “caw,” “screech,” “tweet tweet tweeting,” and
Insane, incessant insects thrumming.
Planning. Packing. Downsizing.
Time waits for no one.
Calm restored-
This view’s days are numbered.
Midas’ late afternoon light
Gilds the garden,
Revealing lush, emerald vibrance.
Warmth wanes; wakening, Winter wins-
Heralding pastures new.
That sure is an evocative poem Robert, it speaks to my experience so clearly, I was right there. That photo shows a wonderful yard, beautifully kept too – a bit of a job I suspect.
Thank you, Paul. My husband has copped the brunt of the work in improving and maintaining the yard. Facing the reality of my physical limitations even after losing 20kg is one of the reasons for downsizing and moving closer to work.
Ah, the old battle I call it no matter its origins, it is a battle for me. I guess this move will be a genuine culture change for you both?
We are hoping so.
Your poem beautifully captures the chaos and calm of transition—what a symphony of sound in that opening stanza! The shift to serenity and golden light is so vivid, especially with ‘Midas’ late afternoon light.’ There’s a quiet power in the acceptance of change here. Wishing you peace as you move toward those ‘pastures new.’ 🌿✨ If you enjoy little slices of life and laughter, feel free to drop by my twin mom blog ‘Twin Chaos & Toddler Giggles’ at twinmom73.wordpress.com or say hi on Instagram @twintales2025.
